A beautiful location near the end of the valley above Theth, perfect for camping or picnics. Surrounding the area are tall mountains on three sides, and a view of distant mountains on the fourth side. There are remnants of recent history, such as two one-man bunkers and a bunker/shelter with observation points and a connecting passage. It is conveniently located along the hiking trail to the Pejes Pass. If the stream water is not sufficient, there is a water point from a spring about 700 meters away. Remember to keep the area clean, with garbage cans available 400 meters away at the bridge. The location is surrounded by mountains, a mountain stream in the summer, meadows, and open forest. It is best accessed with a 4WD vehicle, as a 2WD vehicle may not be suitable for most people.
There is a great camping spot before Sokols Cafe, around 1 km away. It is easily accessible for most vehicles, although some ground clearance is needed. This spot is perfect for starting your hike to the saddle. Just note that there is water in the stream, but only above the Theth area. It disappears and reappears further up. Best time to visit is mid-August.
The river has found new paths. We stood next to the riverbed near the bunker. The night was calm. We had a lot of visitors in the afternoon, including hikers from Pejapasa and taxis picking up tourists from the cabin. No litter!
