Col de Tende is a mountain pass that can be reached from the Italian side. The road on this side has tight turns but is suitable for motorhomes up to 6 meters in length. It is a quiet place to spend the night, and you may encounter some hikers in the morning. There are also fortifications to explore, located about 2 kilometers away and accessible on foot or by 4WD vehicles.
The scenic view comes with challenges. Driving a 5.90m Renault Traffic van made the tight turns difficult, especially on the French side with steep climbs and narrow paths. However, the descent on the Italian side was smooth, with a wide, paved road allowing two vehicles to pass easily.
