We had a pleasant weekend stay for a few nights. There is a convenient private car park available behind the pub. The owner, Franck, was incredibly hospitable and the food was delicious. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

There is a bar and restaurant called The Forresters located at 52-53 Market Pl, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Barnard Castle DL12 0QH. They have a private carpark where up to 5 campervans can stay for free when you eat or drink at the establishment. You can access the river terrace and bar/restaurant from the carpark, which is signposted from the main road near the antique shop. This place is a great stopover and a hidden gem in the Dales. The food at the restaurant is delicious, and they also have a bar with pool, darts, and a jukebox. It's a good base for outdoor activities, and if you need Lpg, you can find it a few miles away at Mickleton service station (open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm).
