We managed to drive our 7-meter campervan (rear-wheel drive) up the challenging road to the church.
This spot offers a picturesque setting with ample shade and a cozy fireplace. The surrounding area is peaceful, with a quiet road nearby. You can take a short walk up the hill to explore the fascinating ruins of a church/fortress, which are highly recommended for a visit. Alternatively, if you have a small van or a 4WD vehicle, you may even drive up to the ruins. Along the way, there are flat areas where you can set up a camping site either on the track leading to the ruins or at the ruins themselves.

This location is truly remarkable. I visited on a pleasant Saturday and found myself enjoying the serene surroundings without any other visitors present. It's worth noting that this place has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Conveniently, parking is allowed directly at the castle, making it easily accessible for all. However, it's important to mention that the road to the top is currently undergoing renovations, causing it to be somewhat rough and challenging to navigate. Even in a powerful vehicle like a Unimog, I had quite an adventurous experience. The road improvements are underway to enhance the visitors' journey. Upon my arrival yesterday evening, I encountered some friendly locals who were enjoying a lovely picnic. They kindly shared a generous portion of their homemade wine, showcasing the warm hospitality that Georgia is known for.
