The Camping Horster Ruhrbrücke offers a peaceful and picturesque camping experience by the Ruhr River. It is perfect for families and those who enjoy water sports. The site is deliberately kept natural and provides amenities such as toilets and showers, but not electricity or water connections. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed to ensure the safety of children. There is a nearby restaurant called Haus Großjung, and the Railway Museum Bochum-Dahlhausen is just a short bike ride away along the Ruhr River. The Ruhrtalradweg, a popular cycling path, is also very close to the campsite. The nearest S-BAHN station is only a 6-minute walk away and provides convenient transportation to the center of Essen and Hattingen.
Please make a reservation in advance. The place is simple but good. The coordinates are incorrectly set. It is located directly across from the mentioned restaurant, by the Ruhr river. However, please note that the marked area is a parking spot where children are not allowed.
The place seemed nice from the outside, but when we arrived at 6pm, it was closed. We tried calling as instructed, but the voicemail was in German, which we don't understand. In the end, we had to leave without being able to enter.
