There is a nice and straight parking space at Hambacher Forst with a beautiful view of the opencast mine. The ground is covered with gravel and vegetation, which is not a problem even when it rains. The journey through the abandoned village via the former A4 road is impressive but a bit bumpy. I had a peaceful night there.
