The Recreational Area is great for visiting the Cascadas de Altuzarra or climbing San Millan Peak. You can park in the area or on an inclined dirt track nearby. To reach it, drive through Santa Cruz del Valle Urbión and follow a well-maintained dirt road.
In June 2022, the recreation area in Zarcia has signs indicating no parking and no camping. A flat area with some tables is located 100 meters before, near a shelter. The surrounding mountains offer nice but steep trails, and access by car is via an unpaved road.
Parking is no longer allowed in the table area. You can park one or two vans maximum. There is a parking lot 100 meters before, but it is uneven. This location is great for starting several routes, such as going to San Millán or the waterfalls route.
