In March 2016, the Van Bovene family purchased De Nieuwe Drenck with the goal of transforming it into a modern mini campsite with updated facilities and a cozy pancake house. This required significant renovations including enclosing the barn, renovating the sanitary building with underfloor heating and new facilities, installing new electricity cabinets and a groundwater system, and creating Jeu des Boules courts. The pancake house was also renovated to provide more space and improved amenities. The family is committed to being environmentally friendly by using biomass boilers, LED lighting, and implementing effective waste management practices. The new paved terrace is wheelchair accessible. These are just a few examples of the many improvements made over the past four years.
The staff is friendly, but the campground itself is outdated. The new bathroom looks nice, but it is too small and lacks sufficient water flow when both showers are being used. There are many areas that still need improvement. Electricity is provided through a pay-as-you-go system, costing 60 cents per kilowatt-hour.
We belde op het laatste moment om te vragen of er nog plek was op de camping en dat was geen probleem. De eigenaren waren erg vriendelijk. De camping is een beetje rommelig, maar de kampeerplaatsen zijn goed en ruim. We verbleven daar met twee personen en een busje voor €22,60. Er zijn veel stroompunten aanwezig en je betaalt alleen voor de stroom die je verbruikt via een app. Het toiletgebouw is schoon en klein maar fijn. Je kunt er warm douchen zonder extra kosten.
