There is a parking bay available at the top of the dike, offering a beautiful view of the Elbe and Schleswig Holstein. It is recommended to park vans here, so as not to obstruct the street. Please avoid blocking the access roads to the Elberadwanderweg. However, this location can get quite windy, making it unsuitable for roof tents that lack wind protection. A quiet sandy beach and trees along the banks are just a short walk away. Additionally, the training center for freefall lifeboats, complete with a launching ramp, is within walking distance.
The view from there is very beautiful, but I was there on a Saturday evening and there was constant traffic with vehicles coming and going until late at night. There is a docking station 300 meters down the road with no parking signs for access roads, but there is also a parking bay which I was able to use. Overall, it is quiet at night and the view of the Elbe River is really amazing!
Apologies, but those who park their camper here seem to have a lack of consideration. This is a small layby on the country road for 3-4 cars and people who are walking along the dike or briefly enjoying the view. Campers are not appropriate for this spot.
