At the Alcantara river, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the magnificent Mount Etna and the smaller extinct volcano called Vulcaneto. The Vulcaneto crater can be explored through a pleasant walking trail. You can even go for a swim when the weather is not too cold! There is also a disused railway track in the area. It is like a little paradise! To reach this spot, you can follow a small path on the right after the bridge that crosses the Alcantara, before Mojo d'Alcantara. The path is unpaved but can be navigated easily until the end, which is about 800m away. There's a small parking area available for one camping car, and turning around is easy.
I don't see how the truck in the photo passed without damaging its body. In August, the trees and thorns prevented us from reaching the final point with our T4 van. Additionally, the river was filled with algae, making it unsuitable for swimming. Therefore, we had to leave.
The place is picturesque, but the road leading to it is narrow and lined with bushes, which could potentially cause scratches to your van. However, once you arrive, it's easy to reach the nearby river.
