There is a used camping area called Pinetina that is open for free camping, even for locals. It is a bit dirty and located close to both the railway and the Ionian highway. The sea there is clean, but the beach is rocky. Access is not suitable for large campers, only for pure campers or camper vans. There is a nearby town accessible by bicycle, offering free water and showers. I stayed there for a week during the peak season. It was quiet during the weekdays but a bit busier during the weekends.
