It's not clear whether sleeping by the water was safe due to the signs, so we chose to stay here instead. We weren't disturbed by anyone and went back to the water for breakfast.

There is a convenient lay-by on the side of the road near Wast Water. It is located outside the no overnight stay areas and has very low traffic at night. From this spot, you can enjoy beautiful views of Wasdale Valley and the surrounding mountains. It is also easy to reach the nearby lake.

The grassy parking area is relatively level, with enough space for larger vans, but caution is advised during wet conditions to prevent getting stuck. There are no signs prohibiting overnight stays, and the beautiful views of the mountains are a bonus. Although there was one incident of honking at 9pm, overall it is a suitable spot if visitors maintain cleanliness.
