Discover an alternative route to experience the stunning Okatse canyon. Follow the river beneath the bridge, carefully navigating between stepping stones. After approximately 45 minutes, you will come across two picturesque 4m high waterfalls, each with a refreshing natural pool. Travel barefoot and wear your swimsuit for an immersive experience. Embark on a 4km gravel path that leads you to a secluded destination, surrounded by the tranquil river and glimpses of the local area.
The place is currently undergoing renovations, so the access road may have some deep ruts and sharp rocks. The entrance area has been affected by construction, but there is still a small flat area available, as seen in the photo. Once the renovations are complete, the access should be easier.
The current situation is not good because everything is under construction, including the long access road. The road is often narrow, steep, and made of muddy ground. The actual place itself is currently more like a quarry and construction site. There's a risk of falling rocks when it's windy. It seems like it will take several more months until completion. It's unfortunate.
