The drive up the mountain is quite a distance, but the breathtaking view of the Sierra Nevada makes it worthwhile. The sunset is also beautiful. We spent one night there and found the internet connection to be good. Additionally, the road is not heavily traveled, as we only saw a total of 8 cars during our stay.
