You can park for free in May at the beach edge on grass and sand. The location is very quiet at night. Please avoid approaching from the South.
We spent 3 nights right by the beach with a sea view. The pebble beach is not the best, but the water is clear. We enjoyed watching the sunset over Mount Etna. The area is not overly littered. Just be careful when driving, as another camper got stuck and had to be towed out. Check the ground before parking.
If you are arriving by the southern road, be prepared to cross a small narrow bridge with alternate traffic flow. You will also need to drive along a long, occasionally bumpy dirt road and pass a small river in your car (about 10 to 20 cm of water in July).
