Stayed one night in October in a spacious van (watch out for potholes). The location was fantastic and we didn't encounter any problems. It's uncertain if camping is permitted, but since it was October, there didn't appear to be any concerns.

There are some small and lovely places to stop along this route. It's important to be cautious of the midges, as they are not a problem in the evening but can be quite bothersome in the morning.
