This is a former section of road that has been converted into a lay by near the A6. It offers excellent views of the beautiful Wye valley and its gorges. You can also take walks into the valley from this spot. It is just a 5-minute downhill walk to the starting point of the Monsal Trail, where you can rent bikes. However, please note that there are no facilities available, as it used to be frequented by trucks. Nevertheless, there are some areas that are flat enough for an overnight stop.

I have found a peaceful spot for the night. It is a quiet layby, located away from the busy main road, surrounded by greenery. There is minimal traffic passing by, making it a serene location. Although it's too dark to see the view clearly, I can tell it will be beautiful in the morning. There is also a helpful information board for sightseers.

I stayed at a lovely place on Christmas Eve. It was great because there wasn't much traffic noise, but the place was positioned on the edge of a hill, so it wasn't completely flat and it was very windy. In the summer, I would rate it a 5 out of 5. Right now, I'm just waiting for the sun to rise so I can take a picture of the beautiful view.
