The police presence is reassuring, and they mentioned that this side of the lake is preferable because it attracts families, while the other side tends to have more young people. You can even go for a swim, just make sure to wear shoes. There are dumpsters available on the roadside for convenience. The friendly fishermen are happy to assist. Feel free to have a barbecue as it is permitted, and there are many seating options available.
We encountered a couple who were advised by local residents not to stay overnight in a place that was considered unsafe. Taking their advice, we decided to continue on our journey, as we also had our doubts about the safety of Oud Zemm. As we passed through the town, we witnessed a conflict between groups of teenagers, which appeared to be escalating into a physical confrontation with thrown objects.
It is pleasant to be under the trees. The view is beautiful and there are many birds and turtles. I had a conversation with a plainclothes police officer who warned me about the potential dangers, but anyway... Some young people came in the evening nearby, played music, and left early. I had a great night's sleep.
