This is a beautiful place, even though it is a rest area. There is a pleasant body of water nearby, where you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a kingfisher every now and then.

A508 Lay-by - This is a long lay-by that is conveniently located away from the main road, which makes it quieter than usual. During the summer, there is often a greasy spoon van parked here throughout the day. It is situated near the Grand Union canal, just north of the entry point where the A508 road crosses over the canal. From there, you can easily access the canal and enjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride alongside it. If you're not in the mood for a long journey, the beautiful village of Stoke Bruerne is only a mile north, and it is home to one of the two Navigation Pubs. However, if you're up for a longer adventure, you can head six miles south to the village of Cosgrove, where the other Navigation pub is located. Both of these pubs are highly recommended and visiting them would make for a lovely walk or bike ride experience.
