This is a great parking location near the river. It might be busy on the weekends, but when we went, it was peaceful with only one camper. To reach the camping spots next to the river, continue on the dirt track from the public swimming beach. Keep in mind that these spots have very fine sand, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

It is a magnificent location, with only a few anglers visiting in the evenings. It is a peaceful spot. I drove there in a 4x4, while the anglers came in Caddys through the sand. It might also be possible to access the area with a camper van.
PS: Be careful, as Google Maps may direct you to the wrong side of the river. Double-check the navigation instructions.
