For those visiting Helman Tor, there is a recommended parking spot that a local resident informed us about. It is a picturesque location, offering tranquility and isolation during nighttime. The access road leading to the tor is narrow but manageable for vehicles like the MB Sprinter, with the final stretch consisting of a gravel road. The parking area is not completely flat, so it's advisable to bring levelling blocks. There are no signs indicating parking regulations or restrictions.
Be cautious of the access road! Do not blindly follow the GPS as we barely made it through a long and narrow dirt track. The regular access road is paved, except for the last few meters. The parking lot was full just before sunset. At night, there were only two vans parked. The parking lot is quite steep, but it works well for our Multivan.
This beauty spot is a hidden gem, but the entrance to the car park is currently uneven and could damage vehicles. We experienced this problem with our VW Touran car. It's important to note that long wheelbase vehicles may not be suitable for the car park entrance, and the approach road may be too narrow in some areas for A-class and coachbuilts.
