There is a small carpark located near Aqualite Mere in Newport, Shropshire. It can accommodate up to 6 cars or 2 campers. Although there are no facilities available, the carpark is open 24 hours with no locked gates. It could be a convenient overnight stop or sleepover location. There is a 4-5 mile walk on site, but unfortunately, despite being the largest mere/lake in the UK, there is no visible water. The walk itself is not well signposted and may be disappointing. However, the carpark and site are generally quiet. Please note that the birdhide was closed during my visit due to ongoing construction work on the path. There are also livestock in the fields, so it's important to keep dogs on a leash.
The site is small and the car park is not very attractive. The walk is not very impressive and there are a lot of mosquitoes, so we decided not to stay the night and went to Ironbridge instead. It is a decent place to sleep if you want somewhere quiet in the area, but not a place to spend a lot of time.
This location is recommended for an overnight stop due to its peaceful atmosphere.
