This location offers free parking and is peaceful during the night, although the road can be busy during the day. Phone and TV reception may not be available due to its location in a deep valley. It is an ideal spot for enjoyable forest walks. If traveling towards the west from Ladybower Dam, Snake Pass is suitable for older vehicles. However, it is not recommended to approach from the Glossop/Manchester direction towards the east, as the initial incline is steep and long. Smaller, modern vans should be able to manage. It's important to note that there are no nearby services available in this secluded area, but the forest walks are worth exploring.
Last night, we spent the night at a campsite near the entrance of the woodlands. Despite there being limited facilities and no signal, it was a pleasant place to stay with few campers and plenty of parked cars. The people there were friendly, and we felt safe throughout our stay.
